Noriba
– a web-based fund accumulation and distribution mechanism, was initiated by
Islamic Relief Bangladesh (IRB) in 2014. In 2012, IRB began piloting the Self
Help Group (SHG), an alternate approach to making low-cost finance available to
the extreme poor. Islamic Relief Bangladesh has been strategically developing
and researching how economically solvent people can be involved in supporting
the poor and vulnerable communities with Zakat money and voluntary donations to
contribute to developing the lives of the poor communities and bridging the gap
between rich and poor people through a process. In 2014, IRB started developing
the Noriba website as a way to accumulate funds, collect Zakat, and make
donations for the poor and disadvantaged rural vulnerable families with a view
to increasing their income to develop their livelihoods and bring about
positive changes in their lives. In 2022, IRB handed over the Noriba website to
Deepto Mohila Somobay Somity Ltd. (DMSS). Currently, there are 1000 members in
DMSS.
Deepto Mohila Somobay Somity Ltd. (DMSS) operates the Noriba website, where profiles and information about poor beneficiaries are uploaded with their appeal to get financial support.

- Noriba promises to give donations to
extremely poor and vulnerable women in return for nothing.
- There will be no charge or cost from the
beneficiary to get a donation or zakat.
- There will be no maximum limit for the
donors to make donations.
- Noriba promises to deliver the donation or
zakat money to the selected fund seeker within one month of the donation
or zakat received.
